GISELLE CHANG – CBD

Giselle is an AHPRA registered Provisional Psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychology Society (APS). Giselle holds a Master’s in Professional Psychology, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), and Bachelor of Psychological Science (Neuroscience).

Giselle’s experience as an international student learning and engaging with diverse cultures has strengthen her intercultural competence, offering a greater understanding of the need to consider culture when working with individuals from different backgrounds. Giselle has experience working in various environments such as healthcare, schools, community centres, and special needs centres. She has worked with individuals who present with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and disruptive behaviour disorders. Giselle utilises a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and self-compassion techniques to best suit the individuals’ needs and goals.

Giselle values self-compassion and mindfulness, and believes that therapy is a “two steps forward, one step back” process whereby small advances should also be celebrated. Giselle strives to create a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic space, empowering individuals to not only begin their therapeutic journey, but collaborating and supporting individuals throughout the journey to achieve the outcomes they are working towards. Giselle has a special interest in working with individuals who are struggling with self-esteem, experiencing life transitions, and adapting to new environments. Giselle can speak Mandarin and Cantonese fluently.
