Low Cost Counselling
At the Three Seas Group we care about each individual, and understand that, sometimes, resources can be limited and life circumstances can make it difficult to afford therapy. If you feel as though you may find it difficult to front the out-of-pocket expense, even with the rebate, we have a few alternative options for you to consider:
Provisional Psychologist Services
Counselling and psychological assessments can be offered by a number of our provisionally registered psychologists. A provisional psychologist is registered under a ‘provisional’ status, meaning they are in the final stages of their study; undertaking a Masters Program in Psychology/Clinical Psychology and soon to be registered and practicing as a General Psychologist. All our provisional psychologists are under the guidance of Principal Psychologist, Robert van de Berg.
Whilst they are yet to be fully qualified psychologists, they have undergone a minimum of 4 years study prior to their placement with The Three Seas Group, and are in regular consultation with a clinical supervisor. They are passionate about providing high quality, empathetic and holistic care. You do not need a referral or a Mental Health Care Plan to access a service with a provisional psychologist.
A provisional psychologist can offer the following services:
- General counselling for anxiety, depression, stress, career counselling, life coaching, minor sleep concerns, panic attacks, assertiveness, health related issues, relationships concerns (individuals only – no couples), self esteem, and helping to cope with life transition and adjustment.
- Assessment based consultations; such as, personality assessments, administration of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS : IQ testing) and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC: IQ testing).
- Skills based counselling; such as, mindfulness and meditation.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (to read more about this click here)
Seeing a provisional psychologist can be great way to get started with counselling; they can offer you an extended session for 2 hrs (if required), and have the skills to work with you, collaboratively, in coming up with effective strategies to help cope with the struggles of life.
The costs associated with seeing a provisional psychologist are:
|General Counselling||1 hour session||2 hour session|
|Skills Based Sessions||$30||$45|
*Clients who hold a concession card, health care card, pensioners card, or disability card, can access the service at no cost. Please enquire within ((03) 9809 1000)
If you would like to have a chat with one of our provisional psychologists over the phone, they are available to chat from 9am-5pm, Mondays and Tuesdays. They can answer any questions you may have about their qualifications and experience to date. To get in touch, please call (03) 9809 1000.
