R U OK? Every Day

How Regular Conversations Can Change Lives

At The Three Seas, we are passionate about fostering meaningful connections, not just on R U OK? Day, but every day of the year. Life is full of ups and downs, and the people we care about—our friends, family members, colleagues, and even acquaintances—are constantly navigating these changes. Sometimes, all it takes is one simple question: “Are you OK?” to make a significant impact on someone’s life.

Why Ask R U OK? Regularly?

While R U OK? Day, held on September 12th, serves as an important National Day of Action to raise awareness about mental health, we encourage everyone to remember that meaningful conversations aren’t reserved for just one day. Mental health doesn’t follow a calendar, and people may be struggling in silence any day of the year.

By checking in regularly, we create a safe and supportive environment where those around us feel more comfortable opening up. This helps break down the stigma that often surrounds mental health and promotes a culture of openness, trust, and genuine care.

Building Trust Through Conversations

When we ask someone how they’re doing and take the time to genuinely listen, we’re not just offering support—we’re building trust. Over time, these conversations help normalise discussing mental health, making it easier for people to seek help when they need it. Even if someone is doing well today, knowing they have someone who cares makes it easier for them to reach out when times get tough.

What to Do When Someone Says They’re Not OK

Sometimes, asking the question is just the beginning. If someone confides in you that they’re not OK, it’s important to be prepared to listen without judgment, offer your support, and encourage them to seek professional help if needed. This could be the turning point in helping them access the resources they need to feel better.

At The Three Seas Psychology, we are here to support those going through tough times, offering a range of services to help individuals and families navigate mental health challenges. Whether you need someone to talk to or you know someone who does, we encourage you to reach out.

Make Every Day an Opportunity to Ask “R U OK?”

Let’s make asking “R U OK?” a regular part of our interactions, not just on one day of the year. By checking in, showing we care, and being there for one another, we can create a community where mental health is openly discussed and supported, making a difference one conversation at a time.

Need Support over and above “R U OK” Day?

If you or someone you know needs help, don’t hesitate to contact us at The Three Seas Psychology. We offer compassionate, professional support to help you through life’s challenges.
